EDG Northern Cape is currently seeking a qualified and highly experienced Senior Collision Prevention System (CPS) Technician to join their technical team in Kathu. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and efficiency of mining operations through the expert installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sophisticated collision prevention and proximity detection systems. The successful candidate will work directly on-site, ensuring that all safety technologies are functioning optimally to prevent accidents and minimize downtime.
The responsibilities extend beyond technical repairs to include maintaining meticulous records of all installations and maintenance activities. Candidates must adhere strictly to site standards and health and safety regulations, which are critical in the mining industry. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge safety technology in a dynamic environment, requiring a blend of electrical expertise and practical diagnostic skills. Applicants must reside in the Kathu area and be ready to meet the rigorous physical and medical standards required for mining site operations.
Key Requirements
Matric (Grade 12) completion is compulsory.
Possession of a valid driver’s licence is required.
Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience specifically in collision prevention systems.
Proven history and experience working within a mining environment.
Demonstrated background in Auto Electrical or General Electrical systems.
