We are seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to join our team as an Agronomy Officer for the Roots Tanzania Project. This role focuses on empowering local farming communities by implementing sustainable practices, enhancing crop yields, and promoting climate-smart agricultural techniques to build long-term resilience among smallholder farmers. The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for change, driving agricultural development through hands-on engagement and technical support in the field.
The successful candidate will work closely with diverse farming groups to provide training, mobilize communities, and facilitate the adoption of modern, regenerative farming methods. You will be responsible for overseeing field activities, monitoring progress, and reporting on agricultural outcomes, ensuring that our projects meet their strategic objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to make a significant impact on rural livelihoods and sustainable food systems.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Science or related field.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in agronomy, agricultural extension, or regenerative/agroecological practices.
Proven experience in climate-smart agriculture techniques.
Strong experience working with smallholder farmers in rural settings.
Excellent community mobilization and networking skills.
