PROGRAM OFFICER – NEWBORN HEALTH (3 POSITIONS) @ THAMINI UHAI
The Program Officer – Newborn Health will be responsible for implementing and strengthening newborn health interventions across selected regions including Kigoma, Katavi, and Geita. This role involves working closely with health workers and management teams to improve the quality of care provided to neonates, ensuring that essential services like Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and resuscitation are effectively delivered and integrated into local health systems.
Key duties include monitoring program performance through rigorous data use, documenting best practices, and sharing program learning with internal and external stakeholders. The officer will play a vital role in capacity building for health facility staff and ensuring that regional and council health management teams (RHMTs and CHMTs) are supported to sustain improvements in newborn health outcomes over the one-year contract duration.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s in Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ RMNCAH experience.
Clinical expertise in newborn care.
Expertise in Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).
Expertise in neonatal resuscitation.
Experience with government systems (added advantage).
Strong clinical skills in maternal and child health.
Proficiency in data collection and reporting for newborn health.
Ability to conduct health worker capacity-building sessions.
Excellent collaboration skills with Regional and Council Health Management Teams (RHMTs/CHMTs).
