TEAM LEADER / PROJECT DIRECTOR @ SEDIT
SEDIT, in partnership with COWATER – Sweden, is seeking a Team Leader – Project Director for a Tanzanian NGO focused on capacity building, financial inclusion, and women’s economic empowerment programs. This role involves overseeing large-scale projects, particularly those utilizing CMG models such as VICOBA, VSLA, and COCOBA in rural contexts across Tanzania. The candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and ensuring project objectives are met with high standards of efficiency and transparency.
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team to implement empowerment initiatives that support rural communities. Key duties include managing donor relations, supervising project staff, and overseeing financial and operational compliance. This position requires a professional with a deep understanding of the Tanzanian developmental landscape and a commitment to advancing economic opportunities for women through sustainable community models. Location of work is primarily based in Tanzania with potential travel to rural project sites.

Key Requirements
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Management, or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in project management within the NGO sector.
Proven experience leading community-managed group (CMG) models like VICOBA.
Strong understanding of the socio-economic landscape in rural Tanzania.
Excellent command of both English and Swahili (written and spoken).
Demonstrated ability to manage donor-funded projects and international partnerships.
Strategic planning and organizational development skills.
Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.
High level of proficiency in reporting and data analysis.
Willingness to travel frequently to rural areas within Tanzania.
