ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIELD TECHNICIANS @ OVAI GROUP
OVAI Group is seeking dedicated Archaeological Field Technicians to join our team for upcoming projects occurring nationwide. These positions are part-time and temporary, offering flexible opportunities to engage in high-quality cultural resource management fieldwork across various regions. Technicians will participate in archaeological surveys, pedestrian walkovers, and shovel testing while maintaining rigorous documentation standards. Possible work locations for these projects include the Midwest, East, and West regions of the United States. Successful candidates will be responsible for performing manual excavations, identifying potential artifacts, and recording site data under the guidance of field directors. This role is ideal for archaeology professionals who enjoy traveling and working in diverse outdoor environments while contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
Completion of an accredited archaeological field school.
Ability to perform physically demanding labor including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to travel extensively to various project regions nationwide.
Proficiency in using GPS units and digital mapping software.
Experience with shovel testing and pedestrian survey techniques.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
Strong attention to detail in recording field notes and site data.
Knowledge of Section 106 and relevant federal/state preservation laws.
Previous experience with manual excavation tools such as trowels and shovels.
