GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICE TECHNICIAN (GAP TECHNICIAN) – 7 POSITIONS @ MKWAWA LEAF TOBACCO LIMITED (MLTL)
Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited is looking for Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) Technicians to support operations in the Urambo and Kasulu regions. This role is central to ensuring that tobacco production adheres to global standards of quality and environmental safety. Technicians will conduct regular field visits to monitor farming activities, providing technical guidance on agronomy practices such as seedbed preparation, site selection, and pesticide application. You will also be responsible for NTRM risk assessments and ensuring that all activities comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
In addition to technical support, the GAP Technician will assist in crop production estimates through exercises like plant counts, bale counts, and crop surveys. Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers and primary society leadership is essential for the success of these outreach programs. Candidates must be prepared to work in both Urambo and Kasulu locations as required by management, maintaining high standards of reporting and professional accountability throughout the crop cycle.

Key Requirements
Diploma in Agriculture, Crop Production, Agronomy, or Agribusiness.
Experience in agricultural extension services and outreach programs.
Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
Previous experience in training or providing technical advice to farmers.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Valid motorbike driving license for frequent field movement.
Ability to travel between project sites and remote areas.
Commitment to living and working in remote agricultural zones.
Proactive, energetic, and adaptable to changing field conditions.
Ability to maintain high integrity and professional ethics.
Capacity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
