Indepth Research is seeking a dedicated Gender and Education Specialist for the East Africa region, with a focus on operations within Tanzania. This role involves providing technical and strategic leadership to advance gender-responsive and inclusive education across the region. The specialist will be responsible for leading comparative gender analysis, ensuring research is aligned with national and regional frameworks, and supporting capacity-building efforts for country-level teams. Candidates should possess a strong background in education policy and regional programming to drive impact. The role involves working closely with regional teams and requires travel between Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda. Successful applicants will contribute to meaningful changes in the educational landscape by promoting equity and inclusivity. The professional in this role will also support the alignment of local programs with broader East African educational goals. The application deadline is 1st April 2026.

Key Requirements

Master's degree in Gender Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in gender-responsive education programming. Extensive knowledge of national and regional education frameworks within East Africa. Proven expertise in leading comparative gender analyses and research methodology. Demonstrated experience in strategic and technical leadership for international development projects. Strong capacity-building and training skills for diverse multidisciplinary teams. Excellent proficiency in English, both written and verbal, for technical reporting. Previous experience working with regional bodies or international NGOs in East Africa. Availability and willingness to travel frequently across Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Advanced project management skills with a focus on impact at scale.
