Hirecrest is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Manager to spearhead territory growth and market execution strategies within the FMCG sector in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The successful candidate will take full ownership of their assigned territory, leading a team of Market Development Representatives (MDRs) to achieve aggressive sales targets and expand market share. This role is central to driving distributor excellence and building sustainable relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure long-term business success.

As a field-oriented leader, you will be responsible for conducting regular route rides and market visits to ensure excellence in merchandising, pricing compliance, and in-market execution. You will provide strategic coaching to your team, manage company assets, and provide detailed reporting on competitor activities and market trends. This position offers a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced sales professional looking to join a dynamic environment and drive significant business growth.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Sales, with a strong preference for the FMCG industry. Proven experience in leadership and team management, specifically coaching Market Development Representatives. Demonstrated success in driving sales growth, range selling, and achieving market share targets. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain distributor and customer relationships. In-depth knowledge of territory management, route-to-market strategies, and field execution. Willingness to be hands-on and field-oriented, including frequent market visits and route rides. Ability to analyze sales data, track reporting accuracy, and provide competitor intelligence. Strong understanding of pricing compliance and merchandising excellence in a retail environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse stakeholders and drive results.
