LEGAL AND RECOVERY OFFICER @ BRAC TANZANIA FINANCE LIMITED
BRAC Tanzania Finance Limited (BTFL) is seeking a competent and self-motivated Legal and Recovery Officer to be based in Mwanza. As the largest microfinance organization in Tanzania, BTFL is dedicated to providing financial services to people at the bottom of the economic pyramid, specifically focusing on empowering women in rural and hard-to-reach areas. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic plans for the legal recovery of overdue loans, ensuring the financial stability and growth of the organization.
The role involves a wide range of legal activities, including representing the company in litigation cases across various court levels, such as Primary, District, and High Courts, as well as District Land and Housing Tribunals. Beyond recovery, the officer will provide expert legal advice on compliance with new legislation, review fraud investigation reports, and conduct training for staff on legal issues arising from operations. Additionally, the position includes safeguarding responsibilities to ensure a safe working environment free from harassment and exploitation for all team members.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania.
Must be a Registered Advocate in Tanzania with a valid practicing license.
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in legal practice, specifically in litigation.
Excellent knowledge of recovery cases and laws governing financial institutions in Tanzania.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in handling labour and employment matters.
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Proven ability to conduct comprehensive legal research on complex and unique issues.
Proficiency in drafting and reviewing corporate contracts and legal documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
