GENERAL MANAGER – RETAIL DISTRIBUTION @ ALLIANCE LIFE ASSURANCE LTD
Alliance Life Assurance Ltd is seeking an experienced General Manager – Retail Distribution to lead and expand its individual life insurance business across Tanzania. The successful candidate will oversee retail distribution operations nationwide and drive business growth through retail agency expansion, bancassurance partnerships, digital transformation, and customer retention initiatives. The role carries full profit center responsibility, including growth in Gross Written Premium (GWP), profitability, expense management, and customer satisfaction. The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing retail life sales and distribution strategies while driving product development from ideation to launch.
Key focuses include building and optimizing a nationwide Retail Financial Advisors (RFA) tied-agency network and establishing a retail training and capability academy. The role also involves growing direct sales through digital platforms and leading mobile money-linked insurance distribution via M-Pesa and Airtel Money. You will be expected to define service-level agreements, oversee digital onboarding, and implement lapse prevention programs to ensure long-term customer loyalty. This is an executive-level position requiring regular presentations to the Executive Committee and the Board, emphasizing strategic management and financial accountability.

Key Requirements
Associate Diploma from ACII UK, III India, or LOMA USA.
CIM Degree or MBA in Sales & Marketing or General Management.
A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
10–15 years of experience in life retail insurance distribution leadership.
Minimum 5 years in P&L-accountable or GM-level roles.
At least 5 years managing partnership channels with banks or brokers.
Experience handling a life insurance portfolio of at least TZS 15 billion.
Experience managing 200+ distribution staff across multiple locations.
Proven experience scaling RFA/Tied Agency models.
Familiarity with TIRA regulations and retail distribution compliance.
Strong financial and strategic management skills.
Executive Committee and Board presentation experience.
