The Resettlement Manager at Tembo Nickel is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and governance of a complex multi-year Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) at the Kabanga Site in the Ngara District. This role ensures that land acquisition, compensation, physical relocation, and livelihood restoration are delivered ethically and transparently in accordance with IFC Performance Standard 5 and Tanzanian legislation. The position serves as a key advisor to management on resettlement performance, compliance, and social risks.
You will lead resettlement officers and technical teams, providing coaching and performance management to promote accountability. Key activities include overseeing notice-to-vacate processes, grave relocation, and transitional support programs. The role requires close coordination with construction teams and MEL teams to ensure data integrity and verification of commitments made to Project Affected Persons (PAPs). The work schedule follows a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster at the Kabanga Site.
Key Requirements
Minimum 10 years of professional experience specifically in Resettlement programs.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development, or a related field.
Proven track record in leading RAP implementation from planning to completion.
Deep expertise in IFC Performance Standard 5 and local Tanzanian land laws.
Experience in managing land acquisition and compensation frameworks.

The Head of Community and Resettlement at Tembo Nickel provides strategic leadership, governance oversight, and executive-level direction for all community relations and resettlement activities. This critical role ensures the company maintains a strong social license to operate while meeting diverse commitments to communities, government authorities, investors, and regulators. The position oversees resettlement implementation, government relations, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems.
As a senior leader, the successful candidate will ensure full compliance with IFC Performance Standards and national legislation. You will be responsible for managing social and reputational risks across the project lifecycle, advising executive leadership on social performance, and representing the company in high-level engagements with lenders and auditors. This role requires frequent travel to the Kabanga Project Site to oversee ground-level operations and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or Public Policy.
Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Social Performance or Resettlement.
Significant experience in mining, infrastructure, or major development projects.
Experience implementing complex resettlement programs aligned with IFC PS5.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
