Polyoak is seeking a dedicated and skilled (Trainee) Machine Setter to join our manufacturing team in Durban (Pinetown). This role is ideal for individuals with a strong technical background and a passion for working in a fast-paced FMCG production environment. The successful candidate will take full ownership of mould changes, machine settings, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the plant. Key duties include managing all mould changes, setting machines according to best practices, conducting material trials, and ensuring all machinery is properly maintained and stored. Weekly wages: Hourly pay between R50/hr to R70/hr based of experience.

The role requires a high level of resilience and adaptability, as the plant operates on rotational shifts. Candidates must be able to report and assist with maintenance tasks effectively to minimize downtime. If you have at least three years of experience as a setter and possess an N2 or N3 qualification, this is an excellent opportunity to grow within a dynamic industry leader. We value solution-driven individuals who can meet deadlines and maintain high standards of machinery performance.

Key Requirements

N2–N3 in Mechanical or Electrical (higher qualification advantageous). Strong mechanical/technical aptitude for troubleshooting and plant operations. Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Setter in FMCG or similar manufacturing environment. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. Resilient, adaptable, and solution-driven personality. Based in Durban (Pinetown) and able to work rotational shifts. Ability to manage and execute all mould changes throughout the plant. Proficiency in conducting mould and material trials as required. Capable of reporting and assisting with machine and mould maintenance tasks. Ensuring machinery and moulds are properly maintained, serviced, and stored.
