We are seeking a highly dynamic and resilient Operations Head to lead our steel manufacturing operations in Kenya. This is not a typical managerial role; we are looking for a powerhouse leader who thrives on the shop floor amidst heat, noise, and high-pressure situations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep-seated obsession with steel production and the mental sharpness to navigate complex breakdowns and aggressive production targets while maintaining superior strategic focus. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the plant's operations, integrating modern technologies such as IoT and automation to drive process intelligence. You will be expected to lead from the front, focusing on melting schedules, uptime, and overall output efficiency. This role is designed for a professional who is motivated by the challenge of building world-class manufacturing standards and solving impossible operational hurdles in a fast-paced environment.
Key Requirements
Minimum 15-20 years of professional experience in the steel industry.
Expertise in shop floor management under extreme conditions such as heat, noise, and pressure.
Strong knowledge of steel production processes, including melting schedules and uptime optimization.
Proficiency in industrial IoT, automation, and process intelligence systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead large production teams from the front rather than an office.
Sharp analytical thinking and quick decision-making under operational stress.
Consistent focus on plant efficiency and achieving aggressive production targets.
Ownership mindset with a focus on building world-class manufacturing systems.
Engineering degree or equivalent technical certification in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering.
Proven track record in solving complex operational challenges and managing equipment breakdowns.
