Wild Survivors Tanzania (WST) is seeking a dedicated Programmes Manager to lead the coordination and execution of conservation and community-led initiatives. This pivotal role involves overseeing projects across diverse ecosystems, including Ngorongoro, Serengeti, and Rukwa–Katavi, with a primary focus on reducing human–elephant conflict and supporting sustainable livelihoods through innovative, nature-based solutions like beehive fences. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, hands-on execution, and ensuring that all programme deliveries align with the organization's core mission of fostering peaceful human-elephant coexistence.

The Programmes Manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team, including Project Coordinators and Coexistence Officers, while managing stakeholder engagements and comprehensive donor reporting. Responsibilities also include budget tracking, operational coordination, and the integration of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data to improve field outcomes. This hybrid role requires frequent travel to remote project sites such as the Serengeti and Rukwa ecosystems. The offered salary for this position ranges from 2,200,000 to 2,800,000 TZS net per month, complemented by medical insurance and statutory contributions.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in conservation, environmental management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in programme coordination or NGO operations. Demonstrated experience in managing community-based field projects and nature-based solutions. Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili for professional communication and reporting. Proven ability in strategic planning, workload allocation, and resource management. Possession of a valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively to remote field sites. Strong analytical skills for monitoring KPIs and documenting field insights for evidence-based learning. Prior experience or knowledge in human-wildlife conflict mitigation, specifically elephant conservation. Capability to engage effectively with local authorities, community partners, and diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with financial tracking, activity budgeting, and donor reporting compliance within an NGO context.
