We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join Vagmine Tech IT Solutions in Johannesburg on a 12-month contract basis. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust data architectures and pipelines that support our data-driven innovation goals. This role is crucial for ensuring that our technology solutions deliver the business impact our clients expect.
This position is a hybrid role, requiring residency in South Africa. You will work closely with AI engineers and product owners to ensure data availability and quality. Key Requirements
Must currently reside in South Africa.
Strong expertise in ETL/ELT pipeline development and management.
Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases.
Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
Proficiency in Python or Scala for data processing tasks.
Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
Experience with data modeling and database design principles.
Understanding of cloud-based data architecture on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Ability to optimize data systems and troubleshoot complex data issues.
Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
