UBA United Bank for Africa is seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Officer to join its team at the Head Office in Tanzania. This role is crucial for ensuring that the bank operates in full adherence to all relevant local and international regulatory requirements and internal policies. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs to mitigate risks and maintain the bank's reputation and integrity within the financial sector. The position offers a dynamic environment for professionals looking to contribute significantly to the bank's governance framework. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape governing banking operations in Tanzania. Key responsibilities will include conducting compliance assessments, providing guidance on regulatory matters, and ensuring that all business activities are carried out in a lawful and ethical manner. Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Proven experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry, preferably banking
In-depth knowledge of local and international banking regulations, laws, and compliance best practices
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory guidelines and assess compliance risks
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and advisory functions
High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion
Ability to develop and implement effective compliance programs and controls
Proficiency in using compliance-related software and tools
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented approach to monitoring and reporting
