STEM & COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER @ TANZANIA EDUCATION CORPORATION
Tanzania Education Corporation (TEC) is seeking a dedicated STEM and Computer Science Teacher to join Tumaini Senior Secondary School in Makuyuni. This role is designed for an entrepreneurial technologist who is passionate about educating the future leaders of Tanzania through science and technology. The school focuses on enhancing the government curriculum by introducing students to computer programming, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to prepare them for global competitiveness. This position is located in the Makuyuni village of northern Tanzania. The salary for this position is mentioned as a $500 monthly stipend. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching computer classes from Form 1 to Form 3, covering everything from basic typing to advanced Python coding. Additionally, the teacher will oversee independent projects for older students, manage the school's computer lab, and provide essential technology training to local faculty members. This position offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a rural African community while making a significant impact on the lives of young students. The role includes on-campus housing and travel reimbursements.
Key Requirements
At least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Demonstrated IT proficiency through coursework or work experience
Strong knowledge of programming languages like Python, HTML, and Javascript
Understanding of artificial intelligence and its modern applications
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware
Previous teaching experience is highly desirable
Experience working internationally, particularly in Africa
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt to different environments
Independent and adventurous spirit
Willingness to commit to at least one year of service
Ability to coach and train other faculty members
Proficiency in typing and basic computer operations
