AGRICULTURE OFFICER @ TAHEA MWANZA
TAHEA MWANZA is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Agriculture Officer to support its mission in promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the Mwanza region. This field-based role involves implementing agroecology and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) interventions within community settings. You will be responsible for facilitating farmer training sessions on sustainable practices including soil fertility and organic pest control.
As part of the role, you will assist in mobilizing smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth, and collect vital field data for programme monitoring, reporting, and learning (MEL). This position is ideal for individuals looking for hands-on experience in development programming and field extension work. A minimum commitment of 3 to 6 months is preferred to ensure impactful community strengthening.

Key Requirements
Formal training in Agriculture (Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agroecology, or related field) - mandatory.
Practical understanding of smallholder farming systems and rural livelihoods.
Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land management practices.
Strong facilitation and community engagement skills for farmer learning.
Ability to work in rural settings and engage directly with local farmers.
Basic skills in data collection and reporting for programme monitoring.
Experience working with NGOs or community-based projects is an added advantage.
Capability to support the establishment and monitoring of demonstration plots.
Commitment to a minimum of 3-6 months for the duration of the volunteer assignment.
Effective communication skills to mobilize youth and women smallholder farmers.
