GEOTECHNICAL TECHNICIAN (1 POSITION) @ SOTTA MINING CORPORATION LIMITED
The Geotechnical Technician plays a critical role in supporting the Geotechnical Engineer to ensure the safety and efficiency of open-pit mining operations. The primary focus of this position is the collection of accurate geotechnical data and the rigorous maintenance of monitoring systems such as prisms, radars, piezometers, and extensometers. By identifying and reporting potential hazards like slope instability or rockfalls, the technician helps prevent operational disruptions and ensures a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
In addition to monitoring, the role involves hands-on field investigations including drilling supervision, mapping, logging, and sampling. The technician will also be involved in advanced data collection methods, such as drone surveys, and must coordinate effectively with various departments including mining, safety, and engineering teams. This position is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the mine and requires a professional dedicated to precise data recording and field inspection standards.

Key Requirements
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in mining, mineral exploration, or civil engineering.
Diploma or relevant qualification in a related technical field as guided by HR.
Valid driving licence is mandatory for site operations.
Proven experience with geotechnical monitoring systems such as radars and extensometers.
Strong skills in core logging and geotechnical mapping.
Ability to identify and report hazards like slope instability and rockfalls.
Proficiency in collecting and recording high-quality geotechnical data.
Ability to assist with drilling supervision and sampling activities.
Experience or willingness to learn drone surveys for data collection.
Strong coordination skills to work with mining, safety, and contractor teams.
