SENIOR TECHNICAL WRITER @ SKYWAVES GROUP
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Writer to join a dynamic Software Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is a contract role operating on a hybrid model, requiring three days of office presence and two days of remote work. The successful candidate will be integral to the documentation governance and knowledge management processes, working closely with Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Product teams to support Agile delivery and release documentation. The role focuses on creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, including API documentation, system design documents, and operational runbooks. You will also be responsible for developing onboarding guides and technical learning content to enhance team productivity. The position requires a candidate who can simplify complex technical concepts and ensure that all documentation follows standardized quality and governance protocols.
Key Requirements
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience in Technical Writing.
Extensive experience with API documentation and Cloud Platforms documentation.
Strong proficiency in DevOps documentation and modern engineering practices.
Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Hands-on expertise with tools such as Confluence, Jira, Swagger/OpenAPI, and SharePoint.
Proficiency in Markdown and other documentation-as-code tools.
Proven ability to create high-quality system design documents and operational runbooks.
Excellent stakeholder communication skills with the ability to bridge gaps between technical teams.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts effectively to various audiences.
