MATERIAL ENGINEER @ SIHOTECH
SIHOTECH is seeking a highly skilled Material Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and recommending suitable construction materials based on design requirements, environmental conditions, and cost-effectiveness. Primary responsibilities include reviewing and approving materials proposed by contractors, conducting rigorous material testing in laboratories and on-site for concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates, and steel, and performing regular site inspections to ensure the proper storage, handling, and use of materials.
In addition to technical testing, the role involves maintaining comprehensive documentation, including progress logs, drawings, and detailed reports on material approval status and non-compliance issues. You will also be encouraged to research innovative materials that improve project efficiency or reduce environmental impact. This position is based in Dodoma, with the potential for assignments elsewhere in Tanzania and within the broader Eastern Africa region. Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related fields.
Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer.
Possession of a valid practicing license from the ERB.
Proven experience on at least two similar projects within the last 7 years.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials such as concrete, steel, bitumen, soil, and aggregates.
Familiarity with international testing standards, specifically BS and ISO standards.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical specifications and engineering drawings.
Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and accurately interpreting test results.
Demonstrated expertise in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) within construction supervision.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent professional report-writing capabilities.
