SAFETY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE OFFICER @ SHANTA MINING COMPANY LIMITED
Shanta Mining Company Limited is currently seeking a highly skilled Safety and Emergency Response Officer to join our Safety and Environment Department at NLGM. The role involves managing safety enforcement, conducting inspections, and leading emergency response efforts in a surface and underground mining environment. The successful candidate will work a roster of 42 days on and 21 days off, contributing to a team that prioritizes safety, quality, and operational excellence.
The Safety and Emergency Response Officer is responsible for identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and investigating incidents to ensure compliance with both local and international safety standards. You will play a key role in maintaining emergency equipment, facilitating evacuation drills, and supporting the Mining Emergency Management Team to minimize risks to personnel and property. This position requires someone capable of working independently, performing physically demanding tasks, and communicating effectively under high-pressure situations.

Key Requirements
Secondary Level Education (National Form IV/VI certificate)
Certification in Workplace Training and Assessment (Certificate IV)
Certificate III Mine Rescue
NOSCH 1 & NOSCH 2 Certification
Three years of experience in the mining industry or related sectors
Valid driver’s license with experience in the mining industry
Proficiency in Swahili and English (written and verbal)
Advanced first aid and CPR certification
Knowledge of fire safety and emergency response procedures
Ability to perform manual labor and high-standard housekeeping
