PROCUREMENT OFFICER @ SHANTA MINING COMPANY LIMITED
Shanta Mining Company Limited (SMCL) is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Procurement Officer to join the team at the New Luika Gold Mine in Tanzania. This role is critical to the success of mining operations, as the successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and expediting materials, ensuring that all necessary resources are available when needed. Working within the Mine Administration department and reporting to the Procurement Superintendent, the Procurement Officer will play a vital role in maintaining the supply chain's efficiency while strictly adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.
The responsibilities of this position extend across the entire procurement lifecycle, from liaising with internal departments to understand their needs to negotiating delivery terms and pricing with various suppliers. You will be tasked with conducting market research to identify cost-effective sourcing opportunities and ensuring that all activities comply with Tanzania's Local Content Requirements. The role follows a roster of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off, requiring a candidate who is comfortable with site-based work and capable of managing administrative tasks, such as maintaining accurate procurement records and preparing weekly performance reports.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supplies, Business Administration, or related field.
Mandatory membership with a recognized Procurement Registration Board (e.g., PSPTB).
3–5 years of professional procurement experience.
Previous experience in the mining or exploration industry is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian import/export regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Demonstrated ability to conduct market research and identify reliable suppliers.
Proven skills in negotiating pricing, delivery terms, and technical specifications.
Experience in expediting orders and coordinating with warehouse/logistics teams.
High ethical standards and commitment to transparency in procurement processes.
