PROCUREMENT OFFICER @ SHANTA GOLD LTD
Shanta Mining Company Limited (SMCL) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join the Mine Administration department at the New Luika Gold Mine in Tanzania. The successful candidate will play a critical role in sourcing, purchasing, and expediting essential materials to ensure seamless mining operations. This position requires working on a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster and reporting directly to the Procurement Superintendent.
The role involves managing the full procurement lifecycle, from validating purchase requisitions and conducting market research to negotiating pricing and delivery terms with suppliers. The Procurement Officer must ensure that all activities adhere to company policies, Local Content Requirements, and Tanzanian regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring supplier performance, coordinating with warehouse teams for inspections, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and preparing weekly performance reports to support cost control and continuous improvement within the procurement systems.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supplies, Business Administration, or a related field.
Mandatory membership with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
3–5 years of professional experience in procurement roles.
Previous experience working within the mining or exploration industry is highly preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of Tanzanian import and export regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
Strong negotiation skills regarding pricing, delivery terms, and specifications.
Ability to conduct thorough market research to identify and vet reliable suppliers.
Experience in processing purchase orders, requisitions, and change orders.
Demonstrated understanding of Local Content Requirements and ethical procurement standards.
