PROCUREMENT OFFICER @ SHANTA GOLD LTD
Shanta Gold Ltd (SMCL) is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join the team at the New Luika Gold Mine in Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and expediting materials essential for mining operations, ensuring that all activities align with company policies and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Procurement Superintendent, this role involves heavy collaboration with internal departments to validate requisitions, conduct market research, and manage supplier relationships to optimize cost and quality.
The role operates on a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster (42/21) within the Mine Administration department. Key aspects include negotiating pricing, processing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, and strictly adhering to Tanzanian Local Content Requirements. Candidates must be committed to upholding ethical procurement standards and contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement systems within a high-pressure mining environment. The work is based on-site at the New Luika Gold Mine, requiring dedication to operational excellence and compliance with all Tanzanian mining regulations.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supplies, Business Administration, or related field.
Mandatory membership with the Procurement Registration Board.
3–5 years’ professional procurement experience.
Mining or exploration experience is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian import/export regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster (42/21).
Proven ability to conduct market research and identify reliable suppliers.
Strong negotiation skills regarding pricing and delivery terms.
Experience in coordinating with warehouse and logistics teams for goods inspection.
