CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO) – STEEL @ SELECT GLOBAL
We are recruiting a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a steel manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. The COO will be responsible for driving plant performance across all sectors, including production, maintenance, and the supply chain. A major focus of this role is cost optimization and the implementation of operational excellence frameworks to ensure the plant operates at maximum efficiency and profitability.
You will lead the operational strategy for the Ethiopian facility, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. This role requires a leader with a strong technical background in steel manufacturing and the ability to manage complex logistical and maintenance schedules. You will be instrumental in building a resilient operational structure that can support the company's growth in the Ethiopian market.

Key Requirements
Extensive senior-level operations experience in the steel or heavy manufacturing industry.
Proven ability to manage large-scale plant operations and diverse teams.
Expertise in driving production efficiency and implementing cost-saving measures.
Strong knowledge of maintenance management and industrial engineering.
In-depth understanding of supply chain and logistics in the Ethiopian context.
Demonstrated experience in implementing lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
High level of strategic thinking and operational planning capability.
Knowledge of Ethiopian health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Strong financial literacy related to operational budgeting and cost control.
Excellent leadership and organizational development skills.
