LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR @ SAFARIKUU COMPANY LIMITED
SAFARIKUU COMPANY LIMITED is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Supervisor to join their team. This pivotal role involves overseeing comprehensive logistics operations, including port import/export clearance, domestic distribution, and cross-border land transport. The supervisor will manage the full-chain logistics for bulk cargo such as steel, construction materials, and oil tanker goods, while also handling Zambia ACI (CE1) declarations, optimizing fleet operations, implementing cost control measures, and liaising with local government bodies. The position requires on-site presence and adaptability, with field operations spanning Dar es Salaam Port, inland yards, Tanga Port, and Tunduma Border Post within Tanzania.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a diverse team, including local dispatchers, customs officers, warehouse keepers, fleet drivers, and stevedores. Key responsibilities encompass ensuring efficient port clearance processes, managing the complexities of cross-border transportation between Tanzania, Zambia, and the DRC, and strictly adhering to cost control protocols. This role demands exceptional negotiation skills when interacting with customs and transport authorities, strong public relations capabilities, and a proven ability to manage crises and high-pressure situations effectively.
Applicants should possess a college degree or higher in Logistics, International Trade, Transportation, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates holding Tanzanian local freight forwarding and customs practicing certificates. A minimum of 2 years of local team management experience (covering customs, warehouse, and fleet operations) is required, alongside at least 3 years of on-site logistics management experience in Tanzania, specifically in Dar es Salaam port clearance and inland cross-border transport. Proficiency in critical areas such as ocean import clearance, TANCIS declaration, TBS PVOC certification, Tanzania-Zambia/DRC cross-border transport, and fleet scheduling is essential. Experience in bulk/engineering cargo logistics and familiarity with Chinese-funded enterprise logistics processes will be considered a significant advantage.
Language requirements include native fluency in Swahili to facilitate daily communication with local workers, customs officials, and government staff. Business proficiency in English is also mandatory for independently handling English customs documents, ACI emails, cost reports, and communicating effectively with Chinese management and foreign partners. Personal qualifications dictate that the candidate must be a Tanzanian citizen with a valid local ID, capable of long-term work in Dar es Salaam, and willing to accept port field work and overtime during peak seasons. Candidates who bring mature local resources, such as established customs brokers, reliable fleet contacts, and government liaison channels, are highly preferred.

Key Requirements
College degree or above in Logistics, International Trade, Transportation, or related majors; Tanzanian local freight forwarding and customs practicing certificates preferred.
Minimum 2 years of local team management experience in customs, warehouse, or fleet operations.
