GENERAL MANAGER – SMS & ROLLING MILL @ POOJA AFRICRUIT
We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager to oversee SMS and Rolling Mill operations in Kenya. This leadership role is pivotal in driving the heart of steel production, managing everything from the initial melting processes to the final finished rolling of long products and QST bars. The successful candidate will be responsible for SMS operations, ensuring high yield and productivity while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a BE in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering and have at least 20 years of experience in the steel industry. Key responsibilities include production planning, cost optimization, and team leadership. This is a high-impact role that offers global exposure and the opportunity to lead a major plant function in East Africa. Key Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 20 years experience within the steel industry
Extensive knowledge of SMS operations including melting and yield productivity
Hands-on experience with rolling mill operations for long products and QST bars
Proven ability in production planning and cost control strategies
Expertise in process optimization to enhance plant efficiency
Demonstrated leadership experience at a Plant Head or Senior Manager level
Capability to manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and safety standards
Strong interpersonal skills for coordination across various plant functions
Previous international experience in a large-scale steel manufacturing environment
