HEALTH AND SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT @ PERSEUS
The Health and Safety Superintendent is a critical operational role based at the Nyanzaga Mine Site in Tanzania. This position is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and management of health and safety processes to ensure that all employees and contractors adhere to the highest safety standards in accordance with Tanzanian mining regulations and company policy. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the site's operational readiness and ensuring a culture of safety across all mining activities.
In this role, you will be tasked with overseeing both Perseus internal departments and external contractors to ensure full compliance with safety management systems. You will lead significant incident investigations using root cause analysis, manage the fatality risk management program, and champion safety cultural initiatives such as SHED. The position requires a proactive approach to hazard identification, regular reporting to management, and the constant refinement of safety procedures to mitigate risks in a high-stakes mining environment.

Key Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in OHS management or a related discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mine site OHS management roles.
At least 5 years of experience in a senior supervisory or superintendent position.
Proven ability to implement and oversee comprehensive Health and Safety management systems.
Expert knowledge of Tanzanian mining regulatory requirements and safety laws.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing contractor safety performance.
Proficiency in leading root cause analysis and incident investigation reports.
Experience in managing fatality risk management and safety culture programs.
Excellent communication and reporting skills for stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work effectively in a remote mine site environment at Nyanzaga.
