Our client operates in the telecommunications sector providing key support to mobile telecommunications players on various aspects of infrastructure development. They offer comprehensive telecom infrastructure services, including the design, construction, and maintenance of telecom towers, fiber optic networks, and equipment. Their solutions are tailored to optimize network performance and productivity. The Energy Design Engineer will be responsible for proposing the best technical solutions to implement on new or existing sites, ensuring the chosen technical solution is the most cost-effective in terms of fuel and grid consumption, and that it presents the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
The role involves the detailed design of hybrid energy solutions for telecom sites, including PV power, battery capacity, power rectifiers, and generators. The engineer will establish technical Bills of Quantities (BOQ), develop project business plans, and calculate expected savings and consumption percentages. This is a senior technical role based at the company's headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. It requires a candidate capable of managing complex stakeholder relationships and project budgets while maintaining high standards for delivery time and infrastructure quality.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable energy, or telecom infrastructure development.
At least 5 years of professional experience in a Telecom environment.
Proven experience in designing Renewable Energy solutions.
Advanced technical knowledge in Electricity and Solar Energy systems.
Advanced proficiency in simulation software such as PVSYST.
Expertise in simulation software like HOMER Pro and Helioscope.
Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Solid understanding of project management fundamentals and methodologies.
Strong grasp of project budgeting and financial management principles.
Detailed understanding of telecom infrastructure solutions and fundamentals.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for technical solutions.
