The Senior Accounts Officer at optimumgroupltd is a pivotal role within the Finance & Accounts department, specifically tailored for a manufacturing environment. This position involves managing end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring accurate month-end closures, and maintaining robust financial controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing material movements, conversion costs, and finished goods accounting, while working closely with various departments such as Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Sales, and Logistics to ensure data integrity across the plant and head office interface. This role is based in Dodoma, requiring coordination between the manufacturing plant and the head office to maintain seamless financial operations.
Key duties include maintaining the General Ledger integrity, preparing trial balances, and handling statutory compliance for VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other Tanzanian regulatory requirements. The role also demands high proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel for data validation and management reporting. By supporting audit processes and driving process improvements, the Senior Accounts Officer ensures the company remains compliant and efficient in its financial operations. The candidate must demonstrate a zero-unreconciled mindset and provide high attention to detail in all audit-ready working papers and management summaries.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA (T) / ACCA / equivalent professional qualification – completed or advanced stage preferred.
Minimum 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
At least 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or processing environment.
Hands-on experience in month-end closure and inventory accounting.
Proven expertise in tax compliance in Tanzania, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and SDL.
Strong grasp of double-entry accounting and balance sheet substantiation.
Advanced Excel capability (pivots, Power Query, SUMIFS/XLOOKUP, dynamic arrays).
Ability to operate and maintain records within ERP systems like Tally or ERP Nxt.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, and Sales.
High attention to detail and strong documentation standards for audit-ready papers.
Integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgement in all financial dealings.
