MEDICAL DOCTOR – 1 POST @ MWANZA INTERVENTION TRIALS UNIT (MITU)
The Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU) is seeking a dedicated Medical Doctor to join a significant HPV vaccine research trial in Mwanza. This role involves clinical oversight, ensuring the safety of study participants, and maintaining the highest standards of research ethics throughout the project duration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with professionals from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the National Institute for Medical Research to achieve trial objectives. Key responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments, diagnosing health issues relevant to the study, and managing medical documentation with high precision. Candidates must be comfortable working in a research-intensive environment and possess the leadership skills necessary to guide clinical research assistants. This position is vital for the successful implementation of the vaccine trial and requires a professional committed to improving public health in Tanzania.
Key Requirements
Relevant academic degree in Medicine (MD or equivalent)
Active Tanzanian professional medical registration and license
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili
Previous experience in clinical research or field studies
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
Ability to perform medical assessments and diagnostic procedures
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Commitment to medical ethics and participant confidentiality
Willingness to work in diverse field settings within Mwanza
Excellent communication and leadership capabilities
