SENIOR ACCOUNTANT @ MPEMBAS
mpembas is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their team in Muheza, Tanga. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting operations, ensuring meticulous financial reporting, and maintaining stringent compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting strategic financial decision-making and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties, including managing the general ledger, preparing comprehensive financial statements, and leading month-end and year-end closing processes. Key responsibilities also include reviewing and approving financial records, coordinating with internal and external auditors, and providing valuable insights into cash flow, budgets, and financial performance. This role demands strong leadership capabilities, as it involves supervising junior accounting staff and implementing process improvements to strengthen internal controls. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will manage payroll operations in collaboration with the HR department and liaise with various external stakeholders such as banks and tax authorities.

Key Requirements
Bachelor 2019s Degree in Accountancy
CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
Minimum of 5 years 2019 experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role
Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills
Excellent analytical, leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Proven ability to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain the general ledger
Experience in preparing comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ability to lead and manage month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently
Demonstrated experience coordinating internal and external audits and addressing audit findings effectively
