GAP TECHNICIAN (3 POSITIONS) @ MKWAWA LEAF TOBACCO LIMITED (MLTL)
Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of GAP Technician to support agricultural operations in Tanzania. This field-based role is essential for assisting farmers in the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and monitoring crop production throughout the season. The primary focus is to ensure that farming activities align with company standards and international compliance regulations, particularly in the leaf tobacco sector.
Key responsibilities include conducting regular farm visits, performing risk assessments, and providing technical training to farmers to enhance crop quality and yield. Technicians will also be responsible for monitoring barn capacity, overseeing seed distribution, and conducting crop surveys such as plant counts and bale counts. By promoting safe farming practices and maintaining strong relationships with local leaders and farmers, the GAP Technician plays a vital role in fostering sustainable agricultural development and ensuring Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards are met in remote areas.

Key Requirements
Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Crop Production.
Diploma in Horticulture or Agribusiness related fields.
Proven experience in extension services or outreach programs within the agricultural sector.
Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication and training skills for effective farmer engagement.
Possession of a valid motorbike driving license.
Willingness to live and work in remote rural areas.
Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with farmers and local leaders.
Ability to perform physical field tasks such as farm monitoring and crop surveys.
Commitment to high integrity, professionalism, and teamwork.
Knowledge of Agricultural Labour Practices (ALP) and safety standards.
