MECHANICAL ENGINEER - 2 POSITIONS @ MKWAWA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
Mkwawa Construction Company is seeking two dedicated Mechanical Engineers to join our team in Zanzibar. The successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical operations on-site, including the maintenance and repair of heavy construction machinery and the supervision of installation works. This role requires high-level technical expertise to ensure all mechanical components meet project standards and safety regulations. In addition to technical oversight, the Mechanical Engineers will collaborate with other engineering disciplines and site foremen to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within budget. You will be expected to troubleshoot mechanical failures, plan preventive maintenance schedules, and provide technical guidance to the maintenance crew. This is a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation of our construction fleet and the success of our infrastructure projects in the region.
Key Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in construction machinery and maintenance
Ability to supervise site mechanical works
Knowledge of HVAC systems and plumbing integration
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software
Strong understanding of safety protocols on construction sites
Experience in preventative maintenance scheduling
Excellent problem-solving skills for complex mechanical issues
Ability to lead and manage technical teams
Strong communication skills for reporting to site managers
