JUNIOR SOUS CHEF @ MELIA ZANZIBAR
The Junior Sous Chef position at Melia Zanzibar is a vital leadership role within our kitchen department, supporting the Sous Chef in daily operations. You will be responsible for overseeing various kitchen sections and ensuring that all dishes prepared are of the highest quality and consistent with our established recipes. This role requires a hands-on approach to training and developing the kitchen team, ensuring that all members are skilled and motivated to deliver exceptional service. You will be expected to maintain rigorous standards of hygiene and safety, including full compliance with HACCP protocols. Your duties will also include assisting in the management of kitchen resources, such as stock levels and equipment maintenance, to ensure maximum efficiency. Key Requirements
Culinary qualification or equivalent formal training
2+ years of experience in a Junior Sous Chef or equivalent leadership role
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lead and inspire a diverse kitchen team
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
Operational knowledge of professional kitchen environments
Capability to handle high-volume service in a busy 5-star hotel
Proficiency in menu execution and quality control
Demonstrated experience in staff training and development
Knowledge of inventory management and waste reduction
