FINANCE AND ACCOUNTANCY MANAGER @ MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES (MSF)
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking a dedicated Finance and Accountancy Manager to join their mission in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This pivotal role involves coordinating and supervising the mission's accounting, treasury, and audit procedures in accordance with MSF standards and local legal obligations. The successful candidate will ensure the provision of quality, reliable, and transparent financial information, supporting the organization's humanitarian efforts. The manager will oversee the entire mission's accounting cycle, including cash procedures, bank account management, and the consolidation of electronic data entry to meet strict deadlines.
In addition to technical financial management, the role carries significant leadership responsibilities, including the supervision and development of finance staff. The manager will serve as a technical reference for accounting software and provide guidance to project finance teams to ensure compliance and efficiency. Responsibilities also extend to monitoring commercial contracts, coordinating tax liabilities, and replacing project finance team members during absences. Key Requirements
Essential professional accounting qualification and solid accountancy training.
A University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is highly desirable.
Minimum of 4 years of previous experience in similar relevant finance positions.
At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within an International Organization.
Essential computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet tools.
In-depth knowledge of local accounting standards and Tanzanian legal requirements.
Fluency in English at a B2 level is required for effective communication.
Native or professional fluency in Swahili is essential for local operations.
Demonstrated competence in people management and staff development.
Strong orientation towards results, quality, and commitment to MSF principles.
Knowledge of MSF-specific accounting software or large-scale ERP systems.
Ability to maintain behavioral flexibility and work effectively within a diverse team.
