CIVIL ENGINEER – AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION @ LJ ASCENDANT GROUP
LJ Ascendant Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to oversee and manage civil engineering activities for an airport construction project in Tanga, Tanzania. The successful candidate will ensure that civil designs, airfield pavements, and infrastructure works comply with international and local engineering standards, project specifications, and operational requirements. You will be responsible for supervising complex construction works across airport areas including runways, taxiways, and aprons.
The role involves close coordination with design consultants, contractors, and airport authorities to resolve technical queries and ensure site-related engineering issues are addressed promptly. You will maintain rigorous standards for quality, constructability, and accuracy by monitoring site progress against project schedules. Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Experience serving as a Civil Engineer on at least one airport construction project within the past 10 years.
More than 10 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction management.
Strong knowledge of ICAO airfield civil engineering standards.
Proficiency in FAA and applicable local aviation standards.
Valid professional engineering license or registration.
Ability to review and interpret complex civil engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong project management and coordination skills.
Technical report writing and documentation skills.
Experience with runway, taxiway, and apron construction methodologies.
