ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT @ KILOMBERO VALLEY TEAK COMPANY LIMITED
Kilombero Valley Teak Company Limited (KVTC) is seeking a qualified Assistant Accountant to join its finance department at the duty station in Mavimba, Ulanga District, Morogoro Region. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager, playing a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial reporting and compliance with statutory requirements. The objective of this role is to support effective internal controls and the proper management of all financial transactions in line with Tanzanian regulatory standards and KVTC's internal policies. Possible work locations include Mavimba within the Ulanga District.
The responsibilities include managing accounts receivable and payable, reviewing payment requests for accuracy, and preparing monthly bank reconciliations. The Assistant Accountant will also be tasked with preparing monthly journal entries, accruals, and prepayments, as well as assisting in the preparation of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Additionally, the role involves supporting statutory compliance for various taxes such as PAYE and VAT, participating in stock counts, and maintaining organized financial records. Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience in accounting or finance.
Experience in financial reporting and reconciliations.
Good knowledge of Tanzanian tax and statutory compliance requirements (PAYE, NSSF, WCF, SDL, VAT).
Experience working with accounting software systems.
Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Good communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
CPA (T) – Intermediate level or above is an added advantage.
