RESEARCH ASSISTANT @ KCMC UNIVERSITY
The Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at KCMC University, in collaboration with the University of North Carolina (UNC), is launching the KUPAA research study focused on Family Psychoeducation for adults with psychotic disorders. This project aims to improve quality of life and reduce hospitalizations for individuals living with schizophrenia while supporting family caregivers. Research Assistants will play a pivotal role in the project's success by facilitating participant recruitment and managing complex data collection processes across multiple sites.
The successful candidates will be deployed to work within hospital psychiatry clinics in the Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, and Mbeya regions. You will collaborate extensively with clinical staff, patients, and caregivers to ensure that all research activities are conducted ethically and accurately. Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience
Proven experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods
Proficiency in English and Swahili with strong translation and transcription skills
Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and human subjects protection
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage regulatory documentation
Competency in basic computer software including spreadsheets and word processing
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information
Experience in scheduling and coordinating clinical assessments or research activities
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients experiencing psychotic symptoms
