TRANSPORT MANAGER @ KAZIBORA HR CONSULTANCY
Our client, a leading steel manufacturing company with over two decades of experience, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee the overall management, control, utilization, maintenance, and profitability of their transport fleet. This role is crucial for driving operational efficiency, controlling costs, and maximizing the performance of heavy commercial vehicles. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of fleet operations.
The successful candidate will oversee vehicle movements, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules while identifying third-party transportation opportunities to generate additional revenue. You will manage a team of drivers, coordinate with various departments like Sales, Stores, and Procurement, and ensure that all logistics operations comply with Tanzanian transport regulations. Key Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Transport & Logistics, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in fleet and transport management.
Strong technical knowledge of heavy commercial trucks and vehicles.
Proven ability to monitor and control fuel consumption and overall transport costs.
Experience in strategic vehicle maintenance planning and workshop management.
Proficiency in managing trip sheets, fuel logs, mileage tracking, and fleet-cost control systems.
In-depth knowledge of Tanzanian road networks, major transport routes, and applicable national transport regulations.
Strong leadership skills to recruit, supervise, and mentor commercial drivers.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing third-party logistics relationships.
Valid driving license with a heavy vehicle category is highly preferred.
