Jaza Energy is a solar energy start-up focused on building solar-powered hubs across Sub-Saharan Africa. As the company scales from 1,000 to 10,000+ sites and expands its network to 20,000 independent operators, we are seeking a visionary Chief People Officer (CPO) to drive continental-scale growth through a robust people strategy. The CPO will act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership, translating ambitious growth plans into an effective organizational architecture suitable for rapid continental execution.
The role involves setting the organizational blueprint, overseeing high-level people metrics for Board-level reporting, and managing significant leadership transitions as the company evolves from a start-up to enterprise-level operations. You will champion a high-performance culture across diverse operating regions, including potential work locations in Lagos, Dar es Salaam, or Nairobi. The successful candidate will lead change management for operating model transitions and ensure workforce readiness for entry into 10+ new target markets.

Key Requirements
Proven track record in a senior people or strategic leadership role within rapidly scaling organizations in Africa.
Expertise in organizational design and linking workforce planning directly to revenue growth.
Demonstrated ability to lead, prioritize, and empower independent C-suite level vertical leads.
Skilled in guiding complex change and maintaining entrepreneurial culture during rapid scaling.
Deep understanding of strategy frameworks and labor laws across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Fluency in English; French proficiency is a strong advantage.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in people management and organizational strategy.
Experience managing remote or multi-country teams across the African continent.
Strong commercial acumen with experience in financial drivers and budget management.
