CLOUD SECURITY & DEVSECOPS ENGINEER @ ILAUNCH
This is a hybrid 12-month contract role for a Cloud Security & DevSecOps Engineer based in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing secure cloud architectures and implementing robust security guardrails across multi-cloud environments. You will play a pivotal role in managing AWS multi-account setups and Azure security services, ensuring that all deployments align with international security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, OWASP, and MITRE. Beyond architectural design, you will integrate DevSecOps practices directly into CI/CD pipelines to automate security checks and maintain IAM controls. The role involves working extensively with modern technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices, alongside using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation. Additionally, you will be expected to evaluate and manage CSPM and CNAPP tools like Prisma and Microsoft Defender to safeguard the organization's cloud presence.
Key Requirements
Matric / Grade 12 certificate
Relevant Cloud & Security Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security, Azure Security Engineer)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong AWS & Azure security expertise
Experience with GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps
Scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Knowledge of SAST, DAST & SCA tools
Experience with cloud security tools and compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, OWASP, MITRE)
Proficiency in container security for Kubernetes and Docker
Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation
