DRAINAGE/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER @ ICT
ICT is seeking a highly qualified Drainage and Structural Engineer for a significant infrastructure project in Kenya. This role involves feasibility studies and preliminary engineering design for a 143 km road network spanning various locations including Embomoss, Koiwa, Chebole, Siongiroi, Labotiet, Gorgor, Ambosi, Dikkirr, Kilgoris, Enoosaen, Anganga, and Mariwa. The project also encompasses the engineering design of associated civil works for a fibre optic cable system under a design-build delivery model. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and efficient drainage management of these extensive road developments.
The position is based in Kenya and is specifically targeted toward Kenyan nationals. The assignment has a projected duration of 5 months. Responsibilities include conducting hydraulic analyses, designing bridges and culverts, and preparing detailed structural calculations and construction drawings. This is a short-term, intensive consultancy role requiring deep technical expertise in road infrastructure projects and familiarity with international design standards such as Eurocodes and AASHTO.

Key Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
Registered or accredited by a relevant official professional body in any country.
Must be eligible for accreditation by the Engineer’s Board of Kenya (EBK) as a Registered Professional Engineer.
Hold a valid practicing license for engineering services.
Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional post-graduation experience in civil engineering.
Demonstrated experience in the structural design of bridges and major culverts.
Proven expertise in drainage design and complex hydraulic analysis for infrastructure.
Served as a Structural or Bridge Engineer on at least three road design assignments in the last 10 years.
Experience with assignments involving bridge deck areas totaling at least 1000m2 or spans of 20m.
Proficiency in preparation of design calculations using Eurocodes, AASHTO, or equivalent international codes.
Demonstrated experience in foundation design for heavy structures.
Experience in designing erosion protection works for waterway crossings.
