HYPEC Kenya Branch, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA Hubei Engineering Co., Ltd., is seeking a dedicated Building Services Design Engineer (HVAC) to support its growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and power infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, and technical coordination of essential utility-scale projects, focusing on disciplined engineering design and technical documentation. You will play a critical role in designing ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental control systems for control buildings, offices, and technical spaces, ensuring that sensitive electrical and control equipment is maintained in optimal conditions.

This role requires a highly collaborative professional who can coordinate HVAC requirements across multiple disciplines, including architectural, electrical, and structural teams. You will be tasked with preparing detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications while supporting vendor documentation reviews and design clarifications. Key Requirements

Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. Proven experience in HVAC design for industrial, infrastructure, utility, power, or renewable energy projects. Proficiency in preparing HVAC layouts, equipment schedules, ducting layouts, and technical specifications. Working knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, or IES is highly advantageous. Strong understanding of relevant HVAC, fire safety, energy efficiency, and building services standards. Ability to coordinate HVAC requirements with architectural, electrical, structural, and fire safety inputs. Experience with control buildings, substations, power plants, or equipment rooms is an added advantage. Capability to perform ventilation calculations and thermal environment reviews for sensitive equipment rooms. Skill in preparing detailed design drawings, BOQ inputs, and technical schedules. Strong communication skills for coordinating with multi-disciplinary design teams and equipment suppliers.
