SOLAR ENERGY ENGINEER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT @ HSD-MELT
Hsd-melt is seeking a highly qualified Solar Energy Engineer - Business Development to serve as a Division Lead in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership, including owning the division's business plan, market positioning, and expansion roadmap. This role requires a blend of technical authority and commercial acumen to drive client acquisition across corporate, government, and off-grid segments while reporting performance directly to the Director. The role involves overseeing the full project lifecycle from design to commissioning, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations. Key responsibilities include managing the division's P&L, leading proposal development, and maintaining strong relationships with regulatory bodies like EWURA and TANESCO. The candidate will manage subcontractors and suppliers, enforcing high HSEQ standards to ensure project delivery is on time and within budget.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Professional engineering registration (ERB Tanzania, IET, IEEE, or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the solar or renewable energy sector.
At least 4 years of experience in a management or leadership role with P&L ownership.
Strong expertise in solar engineering designs, energy yield assessments, and equipment specifications.
Proven track record in business development, client acquisition, and bid management.
Experience in financial modeling, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations for rooftop or utility-scale projects.
In-depth knowledge of local energy regulations and standards set by EWURA and TANESCO.
Proficiency in managing full project lifecycles from initial design through to final commissioning.
Excellent strategic leadership skills with the ability to manage division budgets and provide financial reporting.
Ability to enforce strict health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards on all project sites.
