HSSEQ COORDINATOR @ HSD-MELT
The HSSEQ Coordinator will play a critical role in the implementation and oversight of the Integrated Management System for OGZAN and OGTL, ensuring full alignment with Oryx Energies Group guidelines and local legal standards. The successful candidate will be a proactive, field-oriented professional dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and operational integrity across all depots and sites in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Key responsibilities include performing regular onsite inspections, managing major hazard assessments, leading emergency response planning, and ensuring rigorous contractor management and permit-to-work enforcement.
This role involves active participation in internal audits, incident investigations, and the dissemination of critical safety learnings to maintain high performance across the company. The coordinator will act as a bridge between management and operational teams, ensuring that all safety records, including OSHA, ZEMA/NEMC, and fire compliance documentation, are maintained effectively. Candidates will also lead training initiatives and utilize safety software tools to track KPIs, non-conformances, and near misses to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Requirements
BSc. degree in Petroleum Engineering, Oil and Gas Engineering, or a related field.
2-4 years of professional experience in operations, technical roles, or HSSEQ.
Deep understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 international standards.
Strong knowledge of national health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Demonstrated ability to lead without authority and influence stakeholders across all levels.
Exceptional communication skills in both English and local languages.
Internal Auditor certification is considered a significant advantage.
Proven ability to manage emergency response plans and site-specific safety protocols.
Attention to detail with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
