The Human Resources Manager at Hsd-melt will be responsible for managing and implementing the school’s HR strategy, policies, and operations. This pivotal role ensures full compliance with local labor laws and alignment with AEFE requirements, while supporting the overall efficiency and development of the educational organization. Key duties include the design and continuous improvement of HR systems, documentation of policies, and the management of recruitment processes from preparation of job descriptions to onboarding and offboarding. The candidate will support workforce planning in collaboration with school leadership and ensure HR practices remain fully compliant with local regulations and aligned with international standards.

In addition to strategic planning, the HR Manager oversees payroll and benefits administration, including management of work permits, medical insurance, and statutory obligations like NSSF. The role involves drafting employee contracts, advising on labor law matters, and managing professional development programs through staff training needs identification. The successful candidate will also contribute to safeguarding and child protection compliance, foster a positive working environment, and provide administrative backup support for accounting and payment processing. This role requires professional punctuality, a high sense of confidentiality, and the ability to interact professionally with employees, management, and external suppliers.

Key Requirements

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Human Resources management. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field. Fluent written and spoken English; French and Swahili are considered a strong advantage. Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws, regulations, and HR procedures. Proven experience in taxes, social contributions, and statutory compliance (e.g., NSSF, WCF). Strong analytical and computer skills, especially advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word. Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll software. High level of accuracy, rigor, and exceptional organizational skills. Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and follow complex procedures. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural educational environment.
