IMPORTS MANAGER @ GREAT LAKES FREIGHT
Great Lakes Freight is seeking a dedicated and experienced Imports Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all import operations, with a specific focus on transit cargo. You will lead a team of professionals to ensure that all shipments are handled efficiently, documentation is accurate, and customs regulations are strictly followed. Your primary goal will be to optimize the import process and ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining high standards of service.
In addition to operational oversight, the Imports Manager must possess strong leadership skills to mentor and guide the logistics staff. You will coordinate with various stakeholders, including customs officials, shipping lines, and transport providers, to resolve any issues that may arise during the transit process. The role requires a candidate who can manage complex logistics workflows and maintain excellent relationships with international partners to ensure smooth transit operations across borders.

Key Requirements
Extensive experience in managing transit cargo operations.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
In-depth knowledge of import documentation and customs regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
Strong negotiation skills when dealing with shipping lines and transport providers.
Ability to analyze logistics data and generate operational reports.
A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict shipping deadlines.
