BACKUP/STORAGE ADMINISTRATOR – L2 @ GBM
The Backup/Storage Administrator – L2 will join the SDC-IT-System team at the GBM headquarters in Dubai. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing enterprise storage and backup infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of complex storage and backup technologies, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and architectural improvements across the organization's infrastructure. Key tasks include monitoring system performance, capacity planning, and managing vendor coordination for hardware upgrades.
In addition to daily operations, the administrator will play a significant role in disaster recovery (DR) planning and execution. Responsibilities include managing DR replication, supporting testing phases, and maintaining strict RTO/RPO compliance. You will collaborate with database administrators and operations teams to perform root cause analysis and performance tuning. The position requires a detail-oriented professional capable of maintaining comprehensive documentation and runbooks to ensure operational excellence and security compliance within a high-pressure environment.

Key Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage and backup administration.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven expertise in managing EMC Unity, HP MSA/3PAR, and IBM SAN storage systems.
Advanced proficiency with backup solutions including Networker, Veeam, Commvault, and NetBackup.
Deep understanding of SAN switches, fiber channel (FC) zoning, and data replication techniques.
Direct experience working with Dell PowerEdge servers and VxRail hyper-converged appliances.
Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform comprehensive root cause analysis.
Experience in executing disaster recovery replication and supporting annual DR testing.
Familiarity with maintaining RTO/RPO compliance and data protection standards.
Ability to collaborate effectively with DBAs and IT operations teams for performance optimization.
Excellent documentation skills for maintaining runbooks and system configuration records.
